Isla Nakayama

Description

Isla Nakayama runs lean. She looks like someone who has done fieldwork recently and will again soon, with the kind of build that comes from actually going planetside rather than directing from orbit. Her clothing choices are specific in ways that don't quite cohere: salvaged components, deliberate details, nothing accidental. It's either the mark of someone very particular or someone who stopped caring about appearances a long time ago. Probably both.

She and Woden grew up together, and for a while they wanted the same things. Somewhere along the way she started asking what Precursor discoveries were worth, not just what they meant. The answer turned out to be: a lot. Her company, small and quietly profitable, finds things, understands them well enough to sell them, and connects them to people with money. The Holland discovery is the biggest she's made. She intends to make the most of it.

She's good company until she needs something from you. Then she's still good company. That's the part to watch.
